Lewis Hamilton thinks of other things during the Grand Prix

Formula 1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton, has admitted that even he no longer bothers to watch Grand Prix races – even whilst he’s racing!

‘I pretty much turn off for the whole weekend now and just think about something else instead’, he admitted. ‘I’m really into fashion, and when a race is really boring I will often have designed a new hat with matching shoes in my head before the first pitstop’.

But his team mate, Nico Rosberg, admits that a wandering mind isn’t always good. ‘I’ve lost more than one race because I was thinking about other things’, admitted the Swedish-German hybrid. ‘I crashed in Monaco a few years ago because I was convinced I’d left the oven on’, he revealed. ‘Of course when I got home it was off’.

This isn’t new. Nigel Mansell once knitted a jumper whilst on his way to victory at the German Grand Prix. And there are rumours that F1 legend Michael Schumacher once drove not only his own car, but that of his teammate, using a secret second steering wheel hidden by his feet.

He came first and second!
