The Met Office says the Butter Warning will help the public use their butter better.

The Met office today announced plans to start giving the public advice about the spread-ability of butter. ‘We believe that the public needs this information to help them make informed decisions about their butter and where to store it’, a Met Office spokesperson said.

There will me 5 levels of viscosity highlighted by the new classification:

  • Liquid
  • Sloppy
  • OK
  • Toast Ripper
  • Knife Breaker

The information will be gathered using a dish of butter placed on the London Met Office roof each night.
